Saints survive Kingston for state berth, Bellevue Christian baseball nabs final spot

The Interlake soccer team got a goal from Sujay Bhatia on an assist from Nick Roth in the 85th minute of the game to slip past Kingston, 1-0 in their district playoff game on Saturday.

The win moves the Saints into the 2A state tournament, where they will be the fourth seeded team from District 3 and will face host Centralia in the regional round at 7 p.m. on May 17.

Howie single short of cycle, gets win on mound as BCS moves into 1A state tourney

Bellevue Christian beat Cedar Park Christian 9-1 to take the fifth and final spot to state from their tri-district tournament on Saturday at Sammamish High School.

Jojo Howie exploded for the Vikings on offense, going 3-4 with a home run, triple and double. Howie knocked in three runs and also scored three runs in the game.

In addition to his exploits at the plate Howie also pitched four innings of one-run, three hit baseball to keep his team in front of what was a close game until later on and pick up the win.

Bellevue Christian scored a single run in each of the first four innings before tacking on two in the fifth and three in the seventh to distance themselves from Cedar Park.

With the win, the Vikings will face the top seeded team from the District 6/7 bi-district tournament at 1 p.m. on May 21 at Dan White Field in Eastmont.

Sammamish’s baseball season is over after an 11-1 loss to Mercer Island in the loser’s bracket of the 3A KingCo tournament on Saturday at Bannerwood Park.

Bellevue will be third seed from KingCo at districts

The Wolverines were dropped 9-6 by Mount Si on Friday, meaning they will be the third seeded team into the district playoffs.
