Bellevue in three top-25 national football rankings | Prep sports news

The Wolverines are 3-0 heading into this week's game with Lake Washington and a handful of national publications once again have them in the top-25.

The latest high school football rankings from national outlets are out and Bellevue once again finds itself in the top-10, according to one publication.

MaxPreps.com tabs the Wolverines 10th in its latest Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings, just behind a Coppell, Tex. team that had its last game postponed due to weather and in front of noted powers such as Hoover, Ala. and De La Salle-Concord, Calif.

Washington-Miami leads the MaxPreps.com rankings, followed by a pair of Texas squads in DeSoto and Allen. St. John Bosco at fourth is the only team west of Texas ranked higher than the Wolverines, who climbed one spot from last week.

Rivals.com is not quite as sold on Bellevue as a top national contender, and has coach Butch Goncharoff’s five-time defending 3A state champs just inside the top-25 at number 24 in this week’s rankings.

Booker T. Washington (Miami, Fla.) leads the way according to Rivals. Mater Dei is 23, Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.) comes in at 21, De La Salle is 15, Mountain Pointe (Phoenix, Ariz.) is 13 and St. John Bosco checks in at number five.

USA Today and its Super 25 also count Bellevue as a top-25 team, ranking them 23.

The Wolverines beat Sammamish 49-0 on Friday and continue KingCo play this week against Lake Washington.

No other Washington, Oregon or Idaho team appears in the top-25 of any of the polls.
