Argonaut Holdings LLC has applied to demolish six buildings in north Bellevue.

Argonaut, working for General Motors, applied to clear a 7.8 acre property on Northeast 20th Street for a later General Motors dealership which has not yet been applied for.

The property hosts six single-story buildings between 13240 and 13400 NE 20th Street adjacent to State Route 520. According to the application, Sound Transit’s upcoming construction of a light rail line to Redmond will displace the existing Cadillac and Chevrolet dealerships on 116th Avenue Northeast.

The demolition, which could begin as early as Sept. 1 pending a successful application, will begin with asbestos removal from the flooring of two of the buildings in the property. Demolition will begin immediately following the asbestos removal.

Before the property’s purchase, it held dozens of small businesses in approximately 75 units, including a church office, a computer store, a sports therapy office and real estate businesses. The applicant wrote that tenants are currently relocating to Bellevue and Redmond locations.

If the demolition application is approved, the applicant said the work will take between 30 and 45 days and will destroy 117,000 square feet of office space.

The property is bounded by another auto dealership, an office park and SR-520.
