Bellevue 5K raises $50,000 for charities

Final reports from the Bellevue 5K showed the event broke all records this year.

The event saw an increase of over 300 percent in participants and over 120 percent in supporting volunteers.

The Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club – the event’s lead sponsor – and Kindering raised over $50,000 for their charitable works.

A total of 1,250 runners and walkers participated in the event. More than 100 people volunteered to help run the event.

“It was an incredible outpouring of support for Kindering and for all the organizations that the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club supports both locally and around the world,” said Jane Kuechle, who headed up the organization for the Rotary club. “We couldn’t be more pleased with the results.”

The Bellevue 5K benefits Kindering and other youth projects. Kindering provides individualized family-centered early intervention services for children who are disabled, medically fragile, or vulnerable because of abuse or neglect.

BBRC’s President Jenny Andrews was elated with the result and added: “we were looking for a big win with the Bellevue 5K this year and we surpassed our expectations across the board. We are already starting to look toward next year’s Bellevue 5K, where the BBRC can support the community both in terms of charitable causes and promoting healthy lifestyles, by building on the success of this year’s Bellevue 5K.”
