Think you can play on Tour?

Sorry about sending in a picture of me working in Palm Desert while it is snowing in Seattle, but we have had some horrible weather here as well. It rained and got down to 50 degrees on two days!

I am working with Chris Miller here. He is a Tour player in the Phoenix area, but tries to qualify for tournaments all over the country.

I played with him in Phoenix at the Raven at South Mountain and Chris had an easy 65 with a 30 on the back nine. A couple days later he came over to Bermuda Dunes, one of the courses in the Bob Hope Classic and fired a 4 under 68.

Now if this guy is having trouble making it on even the nationwide Tour what does that say about the competition out there?

If you have a kid who is super athletic, you had better get him or her involved in golf very early. Way back in the late 1970s when I was in high school golfers were usually (not always) the kids that could not make or start on the basketball, football or track teams. Or golf was just not cool enough. Now the kids on the golf team can be all conference in other sports as well.

It’s nice to see this game growing so much and thriving no matter what else is going on in the world. Seeing kids like Chris bomb it out there and cut these long courses down to nothing, makes me want to work out more and cut out some steak in my diet – Nah.
