Eastside Catholic spoils Prep’s opener

Seattle Prep had hoped things would turn out better with the opening of Steve Cox Memorial Park, but the Crusaders’ offense forced Prep to make five throwing errors, as Eastside Catholic cruised past the Panthers 9-6 on April 5.

Spenser Payne hit his sixth homerun in 10 games for Eastside Catholic (9-1, 8-0 Metro League Mountain Division). The Crusaders hit five extra-base hits and scored three runs in the seventh to turn a 6-5 lead into a 9-5 lead.

The Crusaders win was their fourth over Prep (5-4, 1-2) in the last five games, including last season’s Metro League Championship game.
