Seattle Prep had hoped things would turn out better with the opening of Steve Cox Memorial Park, but the Crusaders’ offense forced Prep to make five throwing errors, as Eastside Catholic cruised past the Panthers 9-6 on April 5.

Spenser Payne hit his sixth homerun in 10 games for Eastside Catholic (9-1, 8-0 Metro League Mountain Division). The Crusaders hit five extra-base hits and scored three runs in the seventh to turn a 6-5 lead into a 9-5 lead.

The Crusaders win was their fourth over Prep (5-4, 1-2) in the last five games, including last season’s Metro League Championship game.

Skyline 5, Bellevue 0

Adrian Sampson threw a complete game no-hitter for Skyline, who improved to 8-2 overall with the win.

Sampson ran his record to 3-0 with the no-hitter. Colton Bielaski was tagged with the loss for Bellevue (3-6, 2-5 KingCo 3A).

Newport 5, Auburn 3

Trace Tam provided all the offense Newport needed with a grand slam in the second inning as the Knights defeated Auburn in non-conference play.

Jeff Gonzales picked up the win for Newport (6-4, 4-2 KingCo 3A), while Jacob Carson took the loss for Auburn (4-3, 2-2 SPSL 3A). Jon Foran got the save for the Knights.
