Newport takes third in water polo tournament

The Newport water polo team rebounded from a 8-5 semi-finals loss to Nordic of California to defeat the Storm from Canada 9-3 to take third place in the Siesta Tournament, held April 5-6 at the King County Aquatic Center.

The Newport water polo team rebounded from a 8-5 semi-finals loss to Nordic of California to defeat the Storm from Canada 9-3 to take third place in the Siesta Tournament, held April 5-6 at the King County Aquatic Center.

Jordan Heide led the Knights with six goals in the third/fourth place game against the Storm, who had beaten Newport 6-5 the day before.

The Knights started the tournament 2-0, with wins over Curtis and Shorewood. Heide scored eight goals in the two wins before Newport came up short against the Storm.

Heide led the Knights with four goals in the 8-5 loss to Nordic, which put Newport into the third/fourth place game.
