Vikings capture third place at state softball tournament

Bellevue Christian goes 5-1, defeats Sultan in third/fourth place game

The Bellevue Christian Vikings girls softball team earned third place at the Class 1A state softball tournament on May 28 in Richland.

The Vikings went 5-1 at the tournament, registering victories against Cle Elum-Roslyn, Lynden Christian, Nooksack Valley, Deer Park and Sultan. The Vikings defeated Sultan 6-3 in the third place/fourth place game. Becca Jewett and Katie Pippel each connected on 13 hits and tallied 16 total RBI in the six contests. The Vikings 2016 roster consisted of Annie Whitton, Jasmine Hathaway, Hanna Nakamura, Caitlyn Olexer, Savannah Cullen, Celine LeBossier, Jordan Minor, K’reisa Cox, Jensen Tarbert, Genna Walker, Adonica Midtbo, Emilee Kuo, Jewett and Pippel. The Vikings were coached by Ryan Kelly, Anna Steffen and Tom Pridmore. The team’s trainer was Kaulani Gilbert.
