Todd, Hasty land AP Player of the Year award | Prep football

Jordan Todd of Interlake and Tyler Hasty of Bellevue earned AP State Player of the Year honors.

Both Interlake running back Jordan Todd and Bellevue quarterback and defensive back Tyler Hasty were named Associated Press Washington State Players of the Year for their respective classes.

Todd (pictured at left), who set the state single-season rushing record with 359 yards in the final game of the year against Lynden to finish with 2,681 for the season, earned Player of the Year honors in Class 2A for the Saints. In the rivalry game against Sammamish, Todd ensured victory by scoring five touchdowns, all in the first half.

Hasty led the Wolverines to a fourth straight 3A state title this year at quarterback and cornerback and was also named as a First-Team defensive back by the AP. In what many around the state and country believed was the true state championship game against Lakes in the quarterfinals, Hasty led his team to a win with four rushing touchdowns.

He was joined on the First-Team defense by teammate Darien Freeman, a junior defensive lineman and Sean Constantine, a junior linebacker.

Offensive lineman Mike Kneip was the only Wolverine on the First Team offense while Bishard “Budda” Baker picked up a spot on the Honorable Mention list as an All-Purpose player.

Skyline junior quarterback Max Browne was named Player of the Year in 4A, Connell senior signal-caller Matt Hadley won the award in 1A. Waitsburg-Prescott’s Zach Bartlow earned the honor for 2B and Josiah Green of Neah Bay won the award for the state’s smallest classification.
