April 6

Bellevue 13, Santa Margarita 12 (OT)

Senior attackman Kyle Mutzel scored the game-winning goal 1:30 into overtime to life the Wolverines to a non-league win over Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Orange County on Monday, April 8.

After the teams played to an 8-8 tie to close out the first half, Bellevue was outscored 4-2 in the third and Santa Margarita took a 12-10 lead into the final quarter.

After Bellevue got within one goal, Blake Samuel scored with three minutes left into the game off of a Cole Nordstrom to force the sudden death period.

Then, with just a minute and 30 seconds gone in overtime, Mutzel, the boys Division I leading scorer, drove past the left win and fired a bullet over the left shoulder of the Santa Margarita goalie for the win.

The win was Bellevue’s first on the spring break California road trip, as Bellevue lost 12-7 to Foothill OC on Sunday.

April 8

Newport 2, Bainbridge 2

Newport scored two goals in the last 15 minutes of play to salvage a 2-2 tie with Bainbridge in non-conference play.

After the Spartans (5-1-2) took a 2-0 lead, Matt Ricci scored in the 65th minute. Brian Whitney scored late in the 79th minute to force the tie for Newport (2-6-1).

April 7

Juanita 3, Bellevue 2

Garrett Lee scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick for Juanita as the Rebels defeated Bellevue 2-1 in Kirkland.

Nickolas Coker scored the first goal of the game for the Rebels (2-5, 2-2 KingCo 3A/2A) in the 30th minute.

Liam Kelly scored an unassisted goal five minutes later to tie the game for the Wolverines (2-6, 1-4).

Mount Si 2, Sammamish 0

Shawn Duncan and Sam Joselyn scored to help the Wildcats blank Sammamish 2-0 in Snoqualmie.

Cody Tipton picked up the shutout in net for Mount Si (3-4, 2-2).

Sammamish fell to 3-3-1 overall and 2-2 in league play with the loss.

Mercer Island 7, Interlake 0

Jed Jacobson led Mercer Island with two goals and David Yount had two assists as the Islanders beat the Saints 7-0 on the Island.

After Jacobson’s back-to-back goals to give Mercer Island a 2-0 lead, Tyler Yabara, Nick Ward, Chris Morris, Danny Strome and Brady Regan all scored for the Islanders in the rout. Forrest Marowitz picked up the shutout for the unbeaten Islanders (8-0-1, 5-0).

Interlake falls to 3-3-2 overall and 1-3 in league play.
