Seattle Pacific student brings uncommon passion to local sports | 2011 Best of Bellevue Sports

Melodie Madison earns the title of Most Inspirational for her continued desire to overcome all obstacles to remain the world of sports.

With 2011 nearing its close, the Reporter is taking a look back at the best that was in the world of Bellevue area sports and recreation. From now until the end of the year, we will recap the best moments, stories and athletes of our area.

Most Inspirational Melodie Madison, Mercer Island Booster Club

Of all the preps, youths and adults I have covered throughout my short time here at the Reporter, no story has gone to the heart of my love of sports more than that of Melodie Madison.

A lifelong sports fan and coxswain with the Seattle Pacific crew team, Madison was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis around a year ago. After fighting with symptoms such as fatigue, the diagnosis helped the Edmonds-Woodway alum remove triggering foods from her diet and recapture the life she knew before.

In addition to her duties as a student and with the crew team, Madison is also the social media coordinator for the Mercer Island Booster Club, a position that allows her to display her deft knowledge of prep sports while also exciting her passion for the element of community involvement that comes with local athletics.
