Local juniors lead Robinswood team to Nationals | Community sports news

Newport, Mercer Island, Eastlake and Eastside Catholic players helped a Robinswood team to the National 18 & Under Championships.

A Robinswood Tennis Center junior team brought home a sixth place finish from the USTA 18 & Under National Championship in Columbia, South Carolina, led by a host of local athletes.

After dropping its first match to the Caribbean championship team from Puerto Rico, the Robinswood team came back with three straight wins over teams from New York, Minnesota and Texas to finish sixth.

Robinswood won the Pacific Northwest title in Yakima to earn their spot in the National Championship tournament.

Players competed best of five matches in boys and girls singles, boys doubles, girls doubles and mixed doubles during the tournaments.
