Spring football has concluded around Bellevue, with teams set for summer conditioning and team camps before fall practice opens in late August.

The Reporter takes a look at each of the four public school squads, featuring Interlake in this latest installment.

2013 season: Interlake ended the season on a positive note, beating Ingraham 25-18 in a crossover game to earn their lone victory on the year.

The Saints struggled throughout the KingCo schedule in head coach Dave Meyers’ first year, dropping their first nine games by an average of more than five touchdowns per contest.

Interlake also saw the Crossroads Cup change hands, as rival Sammamish won a 21-7 game to reclaim the trophy.

Early outlook: Interlake will break in a new quarterback, and be tasked with finding playmakers on the defense as they look to close the gap in 2A/3A KingCo.

Biggest question: Can Interlake find any footing in the second year under Myers?

The Saints have been fighting an uphill battle on the gridiron for the better part of the past three decades, save for the four-year stint in Class 2A.

Mount Si’s move out of Class 3A helps thin the heard, but nationally-ranked and six-time defending state champ Bellevue still runs the block, and the Saints have to climb over the likes of Liberty, Juanita and Mercer Island to contend for a round of 32 playoff spot.

Rising senior De’Jhion Parrish led the team last year in carries with 84, and rushed for nearly 800 yards and five scores on the ground.

Finding an early rhythm for the offense will be key for a team that scored two touchdowns through the first five weeks in 2013, and broke 20 only twice.
