The Saints and Wolverines play in the first round of the tournament in loser-out games with district spots on the line for the winners.

Interlake, Bellevue set for KingCo tournament

Kendall Davis had 20 digs and Julia Regalia added 20 assists to help the Saints to the win.

Jacqueline Regalia’s team high eight kills sent the Saints to a loser-out game to begin the 3A KingCo volleyball tournament Thursday at Juanita against the Rebels in another loser-out match with the winner heading to districts.

Bellevue 0 Mercer Island 3

The Islanders took the sweep from Bellevue despite six kills from Katie Griffin.

Kelsey Burns added two aces, eight digs and seven assists in the loss.

The Wolverines begin the KingCo tourney Thursday, also at Juanita against Liberty, a team it swept in both regular season meetings.

Both matches begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Juanita field house with the winners advancing to the late games against the top-seeded squads from Mount Si and Mercer Island and also earning spots to next week’s Sea-King district tournament.

Bellevue takes regular season title

Bellevue picked up two more wins to lock up the regular season KingCo championship, beating Mount Si 3-2 in overtime and coming back with a 4-1 win over Liberty.

Clarice Bruch and Isabelle Butterfield found the net for the Wolverines in a comeback win over the Wildcats after they trailed 2-0 in the second half. Butterfield’s second goal came in overtime fro the game winner after she netted an earlier strike off a penalty kick.

Sabrina Mohazzabfar and Butterfield put their team in front early against the Patriots and again it was Butterfield on a penalty kick to close the scoring and give Bellevue the title.

The Wolverines close the regular season at Mercer Island Tuesday.
