Bellevue Sail & Power Squadron is bringing boating classes to Bellevue beginning in January.

The Bellevue Sail & Power Squadron will offer boating classes and seminars beginning in January and no membership is required.

Classes on piloting, marine communication systems, sailing and engine maintenance as well as two-hour seminars on topics ranging from using GPS to tides and currents will also be held.

Classes

Piloting: 10 weeks beginning Monday, Jan. 9

Marine Communication Systems: 8 Weeks beginning Tuesday, Jan. 10

Sail: 8 weeks beginning Thursday, Jan. 12 (Neptune Sail Club, 1200 Carillon Point, Kirkland)

Engine Maintenance: 10 weeks beginning Thursday, Feb. 2

All classes are from 7-9 p.m. and are held at Lake Hills Elementary, 14310 Southeast 12th Street, Bellevue, unless otherwise noted.

Mariner’s Compass: Wendesday, Jan. 11

Using GPS: Wednesday, Jan. 11

Anchoring: Wedndesday, Feb. 8

Basic Coastal Navigation: Wednesday, Feb. 22

VHF Marine Radio: Wednesday, Mar. 14

Tides and Currents: Wednesday, Mar. 21

All seminars are taught by experienced, certified instructors and are open to the pubic. Seminars are one-time only and last two hours, from 6-8 p.m. at West Marine, 13211 Northeast 20th Street, Bellevue.
