Bellevue High School student rides to championships

Bellevue's Haley Pembroke competed at an equestrian competition in Texas

Haley Pembroke, a rising junior at Bellevue High School, competed in the Appaloosa Youth World Show equestrian competition recently in Fort Worth, Texas, and returned with a pair of titles.

Pembroke, riding horse My Chips are Hot, was named World Champion in the Halter 13-15 year old age group in Showmanship. She also was named reserve champion in the 14-18 year old Showmanship category and was a top-10 placer in the Saddle competition (13 and under) and Novice Showmanship.

Pembroke was representing Deerfield Farm of Issaquah and trains with Sue Schultz, Jessica Atterton and Katie Hagen.
