The Wolverines are track and field state champions again, led by senior Budda Baker and a host of other state competitors

Bellevue won its third straight team scoring title in boys track and field, bolstered by a host of individual and relay championships.

Senior Budda Baker won the 100 meter dash title for the Wolverines, running a wind adjusted 10.77 seconds in the finals to best Lincoln’s Rayshaun Miller. He came back to claim the state title in the 200, running 21.87 to finish just in front of Hanford’s Ben Kelly.

Teammate Isaiah Gilchrist ran 11.05 in the finals and finished in fifth place, and was third in the 400 in 49.36. Marcel Lee also made the finals in the 400, running 50.80 to finish in eighth.

Baker also finished in second place in the long jump competition, jumping a wind-adjusted 22-09.75 in the finals.

Sam Richmond won the 3A state title in the 110 meter hurdles, running 14.58 in the finals to finish in front of the pack.

He teamed with Sam and Max Richmond, as well as Gilchrist, to run away with the 400 meter relay title in 41.79, nearly a full second ahead of the second place finishers from Southridge. The Wolverines also won the 1,600 meter relay title, as Gilchrist, Wendle, Rezhaun Henderson and Lee ran 3:23.04 to edge out Marysville-Getchell for the top spot.

Bellevue senior Graham Wendle found his way onto the podium in the 1,600, running 4:17.25 in the finals to finish in eighth place.

The Wolverines won the team scoring by 14 points over Nathan Hale.

Interlake senior Aaron Miller threw 151-10 in the discus finals, good enough for a fourth place finish. Austin Clark was fifth in the long jump with a wind adjusted mark of 21-05.50 in the finals.

Ryan Gilbert finished in sixth place in the javelin throw, just an inch out of fifth place with a mark of 171-05 in the finals.

Zen Moore was third for Sammamish in the 2A 300 hurdles, running 39.24

The Wolverines’ girls were sixth in the 800 meter relay finals, as Isabelle Butterfield, Eden Fox, Jojo Harber and Sabrina Mohazzabfar ran 1:43.52 in the finals.

Ayane Rossano had a best mark of 11-06 in the poe vault to finish in third place. Teammate Michelle Louie was sixth with a mark of 11-03.

Nikita Waghani ran 2:18.21 for the Interlake girls in her final run in the 800 as a prep, good for sixth place.

Pascale De Sa E Silva was fourth in the 3,200 for Sammamish, finishing in 11:28.62.

Candace Ho was second for Newport in the pole vault at 11-09. Julia Sliwoski was sixth in the javelin throw, with a mark of 130-04.
