Bellevue boys, girls in KingCo Tournament | Prep basketball news

Scores, highlights and updates on postseason prep hoops action in Bellevue.

The postseason is underway on the basketball court, and tournaments commence Tuesday in 3A and 4A KingCo.

Bellevue’s girls team won its first round game against Interlake in the 3A KingCo girls basketball tournament 66-52, using a team high 18 points from Shelby Cansler and 16 more from Mandy Steward to get the victory and a spot in the Sea-King District tournament.

The Wolverines meet top-seeded Juanita at 6:30 Tuesday at Bellevue College in the conference tournament semi-finals. The Rebels won both meetings between the two during the regular season.

Newport owns the top seed from the division to Wednesday’s 4A KingCo girls basketball tournament, where it will meet Bothell at 7:30 p.m. at home.

The Bellevue boys had a bye in the first round of the 3A KingCo tournament, and will face Mount Si Tuesday at 8:15 p.m. at Bellevue College.

The Wildcats beat Juanita in a loser-out game in the first round.

Liberty beat Interlake 72-56 in the other opening round game to end the Saints’ season and set a semi-final date with Mercer Island.

Tuesday’s winners will meet Thursday night at Bellevue College for the conference championship and each of the four semi-final teams is in the Sea-King tournament, which begins Saturday.

Bellevue Christian won a pair of games, beating Seattle Christian and Vashon, in its quest to reach the tri-district tournament and earn a spot to the 1A Regionals.
