Thank you, superheroes who helped woman in Bellevue | Letter

Last Sunday, a group of us left for a Father's Day outing. Travelling east on Bel-Red Road, we saw a car ahead of us stopped. It was a silver Camry at an intersection and the light was green. "Ha, someone is asleep at the wheel," one of us laughed. Well, we were going left, so it didn't matter to us. As we pulled into the left lane, and to the left of the stopped Camry, we looked over. An older woman was sitting a bit hunched over the steering wheel.

Last Sunday, a group of us left for a Father’s Day outing. Travelling east on Bel-Red Road, we saw a car ahead of us stopped. It was a silver Camry at an intersection and the light was green. “Ha, someone is asleep at the wheel,” one of us laughed. Well, we were going left, so it didn’t matter to us. As we pulled into the left lane, and to the left of the stopped Camry, we looked over. An older woman was sitting a bit hunched over the steering wheel.

“Maybe she has something on her mind,” someone else in our car commented. Then the signal turned green again, and once again she did not go. Now we wondered what was wrong. At that moment, two guys from the car that was now behind the Camry, got out and walked forward. We watched as one of them leaned into the open window of the Camry and spoke to the older woman in a calm voice.

“Lady, are you okay?” he asked. The older woman looked upset and flustered. She answered, “My car is stalled.” We heard them answer, “We are going to move your car to the side of the road, OK?” Then our light turned green.

As we started to drive away, knowing she was in good hands, we looked back and saw the back of the T-shirt of one of the guys. It read: “Husband, Dad and Superhero.” Thank you to the superheroes who helped this older woman. Happy Father’s Day.
