Several road projects could impact traffic significantly in the next few weeks, according to Bellevue’s transportation department.

The busy intersection of Northeast Eighth Street at 120th Avenue Northeast will be closed to all four directions of traffic from 10 p.m. Friday, June 24, to noon Sunday, June 26. Crews will be repaving the road and detours will be in place.

Travelers should take Northeast 12th Street as their main east-west route this weekend.

• On Tuesday, June 21 and Wednesday June 22, crews will repave the Lake Hills Connector between Richards Road and 140th Avenue Southeast between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Crews were grinding the road last week and will continue to shut down one lane at a time during work as part of the city’s “pavement overlay project.

• Intermittent lane closures will impact Main Street and 112th Avenue Southeast as Sound Transit crews prepare to install a sound wall surrounding the south tunnel portal for the Eastlink Extension’s Bellevue tunnel.

Sound Transit’s construction crews have continued to clear and grade the site in preparation for tunnel excavation which is anticipated to begin this fall. In advance of the tunnel excavation, a 20-foot temporary sound wall will be installed around the site.

Crews are now performing utility relocation work to prepare for the installation of the sound wall. A continuation of the intermittent/as needed sidewalk and lane closures will be necessary to complete the utility and sound wall installation work.

Construction of the temporary sound wall is expected to be complete by fall 2016.
