Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman isn’t in the new Xbox- and PC-exclusive Titanfall, but that fact didn’t prevent hardcore gamers and football fans from converging on the Microsoft Store at Bellevue Square for Monday night’s midnight release party.

“The cool thing about our fans is they’re both,” said Hollie Ekornas, general manager for the Bellevue store Monday night.

Titanfall, the most highly-anticipated Xbox One release since the console debuted late last year, mixes first-person shooting — brought to you by the guys behind the Call of Duty franchise — with gameplay in mechanized fighting suits. COD fans will notice some similarities, said Ekornas.

“On the other hand,” she said, “it’s not like anything you’ve ever played.”

A lot of Microsoft customers come out to every store launch party, standing in the pre-order line or playing new releases in the store while they wait to buy them. Some tried to wait out the Titanfall release the day before, but Ekornas said they waited until 6 a.m. Monday to let the line start forming.

Another line up occurred Monday night in the form of Seahawks fans waiting their turn to see Sherman, who came to the Bellevue store before making an appearance at the University Village Microsoft Store. Looking fresh off a Super Bowl XLVIII victory, Sherman posed for numerous photos before meeting up with fans in the pre-order line in the lower Bellevue Square concourse.

Making one pass up and down the line for high-fives, Sherman exited the Microsoft Store around 10 p.m. through a back door as fans continued to scream his name, even five minutes after his last sighting.
