Overlake Hospital Medical Center has added three new staff members to new positions in its hospital and clinic operations: Director of Overlake Medical Clinics Development, Director of Physician Practice Information Services and Medical Director of Overlake Medical Clinics.

Kelly Piger has been appointed Director of Overlake Medical Clinic Development, a role in which she’ll work on Overlake’s expansion of its network of primary care clinics and providers.

Before joining Overlake, Piger worked in several management positions at the Spokane-based Rockwood Clinic, a primary-,urgent-, and specialty-care clinic with more than 1,100 physicians and staff.

In her most recent role as Associate Administrator of Clinic Operations, Piger led the operations team in the successful selection and implementation of an Electronic Health Records project which significantly improved patient care. She also directed development of multiple new facilities featuring the most current medical solutions and the medical home concept of coordinated care and disease prevention.

Overlake hired Brian O’Keefe as Director of Physician Practice Information Services. O’Keefe brings 22 years of information services experience to Overlake.

He is working with the hospital’s 1,000-member affiliated physician network to help physician practices adopt electronic medical record systems, and is also working on building Overlake’s healthcare information exchange.

O’Keefe recently served as director and program manager with Affiliated Computer Services, a global provider of IT and business solutions. O’Keefe served in ACS’s healthcare division serving UMass Memorial Health Care, a five-hospital, nonprofit health system and the primary teaching affiliate for University of Massachusetts Medical School, in central Massachusetts as well as other ACS healthcare clients throughout North America.

Sheri Malakhova, MD, joined Overlake as the new Medical Director of Overlake Medical Clinics. The clinics are part of Overlake’s network of primary care clinics on the Eastside with Overlake-employed physicians.

Originally from St. Paul, Minn., Dr. Malakhova attended medical school at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, Calif. Her internal medicine residency was at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Dr. Malakhova spent almost 25 years in Idaho with her first 10 years in traditional internal medicine practice in Nampa. She then joined Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise in 1997 and has had multiple duties as a medical director while maintaining a clinical practice as an urgent care physician, primary care physician and occupational medicine physician.
