In what has become one of the most spectacular fireworks shows on the Eastside, the city of Newcastle will hold its second annual “Valley Medical Center’s 4th at the Lake.” More than 1,500 people celebrated on the banks of Lake Boren last year, and the city expects an even larger crowd in this year.

The highlight of the celebration is the 20-minute fireworks show over the lake. Entertainment Fireworks, Inc. will set the display to a musical score that can be heard throughout the park crafted by David Harris of HTS Audio.

The event begins at 6 p.m. with family activities and food from Big O’s BBQ. Then at 8 p.m., the AstroCats take the stage for a two-hour concert. That’s followed by the fireworks finale.

Lake Boren Park is located on Southeast 84th Way in Newcastle just off Coal Creek Parkway. Admission to the event is free and complimentary shuttle service will be provided from Newcastle Elementary School (8400 136th Ave. SE).

Outside fireworks are not permitted at Lake Boren Park, and all dogs must be on a leash.
