LEGO Store still closed | 200 gallons of water leave first floor suite soaked

The rest of the mall was able to open shortly after flooding last week, but the LEGO Store will remain closed for weeks.

The LEGO Store in Bellevue Square remained closed Tuesday due to damage sustained during flooding last week, and will not reopen for at least two weeks according to an employee stationed outside the entrance.

The drop ceiling of its suite on the first floor of the mall was completely removed, as was flooring, while industrial fans dried out saturated finishings. The employee said roughly 200 gallons of water came spilling through light fixtures, air vents and basically any other crevice when a torrential downpour left several occupants of the mall without power and inundated with water.

“It was coming from everywhere,” the employee said.

Kemper Development could not offer a definitive date for reopening, but LEGO will continue to hold events at the location in the common area outside the store.
