After responding to a public disturbance on Tuesday, Bellevue police arrested a man believed to be involved in an armed robbery earlier that day.

At 3:20 a.m. on April 12, a suspect entered the Shell gas station located at 12001 NE Eighth Street brandishing a knife. The suspect threatened the clerk and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. Security cameras captured several images of the suspect.

Later that day, just after 11 p.m., Bellevue police responded to a call of a disturbance in the parking lot of the Fred Meyer store in Bellevue on 148th Avenue Northeast.

Officers found a 38-year-old Bellevue resident who was “extremely agitated” and was making suicidal statements to officers.

The officers took him into custody for a mental evaluation. They also noticed he bore a resemblance to the suspect from the robbery that morning. After checking his pockets, officers found a knife in the man’s pocket. The man then made statements about robbing a gas station.

He was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of robbery. The suspect has not been named, neither has he yet been charged with a crime.
