Bellevue preschoolers learn to call 911

The Bellevue Fire Department's Public Educator Heather Wong, right, reads a book about Emery the emergency penguin to young children at Bellevue Library on April 19. The event was part of an ongoing series by King County 911 to teach children how and when to dial 911 in emergencies. The event was inspired by Austin Holdt, a nine-year-old King County resident who dialed 911 when his grandmother fell unconscious in 2015, and was able to calmly relay information to the 911 call-taker.
