A heart-thumping good time for women’s health

Center Court in Bellevue Square was a sea of red this past Friday, as crowds of women joined together to unite in the fight against heart disease. The Go Red in Style: Wear Red Day at Bellevue Square presented an evening of inspiration, information and entertainment.

Go Red For Women celebrates the energy and passion spurred by women who band together to wipe out heart disease and stroke. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the number one killer of women in America.

Heart disease and stroke are largely preventable. The AHA offers information, support and facts to help educate women across the country about the disease. Millions of people now wear the color red to represent the ability of all women to improve their heart health and live stronger, longer lives.

To promote heart health, celebrity chef and mixologist Kathy Casey of Kathy Casey Food Studios and Dish D’Lish made a guest appearance in Bellevue. With wit and humor, she shared useful tips for simple entertaining along side lifestyle expert Kelley Moore of Seattle magazine.

Wellness coach and author Deborah Enos shared her top five tips for preventing heart disease. Sound Heart, a joint enterprise of Overlake Hospital Medical Center and Evergreen Hospital Medical Center, offered free blood pressure checks throughout the evenings event.
