What are the two biggest issues you want to address and how do you plan to address them if elected:

I am running to provide a voice for the families who sit in traffic day after day and wonder why no major transportation investments have occurred since the early 1990’s, why our teachers are being overwhelmed with overflowing classrooms and why affordable renewable energy isn’t already here to protect our environment and reduce our dependence on oil.

To improve the education system, we must fully fund basic education as the top priority of the State. This would include paying teachers a market competitive wage, providing ongoing training, performance bonuses and single-subject certification at the high school level to reduce classroom size.

To reduce congestion, we need to build a world-class public transportation system with a flexible mix of hybrid buses, bus rapid transit (BRT), light rail and roads that begin to relieve critical congestion choke points immediately and expand as we grow.

I believe strongly that we have a responsibility to enhance our environment and our region’s economy for our children and future generations. We can build sustainable communities by developing a world class public transportation system, providing green incentives and working to develop alternative fuels.

These changes can begin today and are neither Republican nor Democrat. The solutions are beyond partisan politics and can provide an incredible quality of life for all us. It requires leadership and a willingness to work together to stop the endless studies and start taking action that will put us back on track and into the 21st century.
