Green gardening workshops set in Bellevue

Free “green gardening” workshops for Bellevue residents will be held over the next several weeks. All classes will be at Bellevue City Hall, Room 1E-108, 450 110th Ave. N.E. Registration is required and can be done by contacting klafranchi@bellevuewa.gov or 425.452.6932.

Here’s the lineup:

Native Plants for Sun and Shade: 7-9 p.m., May 19, Horticulturist Peggy Campbell shares the color, beauty and texture of Washington’s native plants. These plants are naturally suited for Northwest gardens and help reduce summer maintenance.

Drought Tolerant Beauties for Sunny Spots: 7-9 p.m., May 28, Horticulturist Peggy Campbell shows you how to choose the right plants for sunny garden areas. Take home ideas for beautiful, trouble-free plants that thrive naturally without irrigation – saving your time, money, and resources.

Dazzling Dry Shade Gardening: 7-9 p.m., June 2, Horticulturist Peggy Campbell will help you brighten those dry, shady garden areas with beautiful plants that thrive in these conditions. Take home simple solutions for bare areas under trees, lawn alternatives, and seasonal color.

Smart Watering: 7-9 p.m., June 9, Watering expert Howard Stenn will show you how to use less water in your yard. Save time, money and grow healthier plants. Get tips about different watering methods, irrigation, and mulching.

Natural Weed Control: 7-9 p.m., June 16, EJ Hook presents new strategies for managing weed problems. Learn professional secrets about natural care—all collected during EJ’s years of work at the Woodland Park Zoo.
