On Nov. 19 we celebrated Lunch with a Hero at Emerald Heights Academy whereby we invite local law enforcement and fire department personnel to visit our school and speak to our students about the jobs they perform within the community and then join the students for lunch.

We were fortunate enough to welcome several members of the Bellevue police and fire departments along with members from the Mercer Island Marine Patrol to our school. The officers and personnel who arrived did an outstanding job of engaging the children and speaking to them about the importance of safety and how their jobs impact the community. They then joined the students for lunch and even braved our lunch recess playing with the children and simply having a relaxing time.

These men and women are like offensive linemen in football – the only time they hear their name called often is when someone is displeased with them. Well, here at EHA we just wanted to say thank you to all our law enforcement and fire department personnel in the area who do so much for all of us without any thought of recognition. Thank you from EHA and to all those who serve our community.
