Fallen officer memorial at Factoria

Police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty will be honored Saturday at a memorial at the Factoria Mall.

Police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty will be honored Saturday at a memorial at the Factoria Mall.

Cosponsored by several local police agencies, the memorial is set for 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. near Red Robin and Nordstrom Rack. The event is part of the annual Law Enforcement Memorial Week.

Four police officers who have died on the job will be remembered Saturday – Chelan County Deputy Saul Gallegos, Seattle Police officers Joselito Barber and Robert Allshaw and State Trooper Steven Frink.

There will be handouts and displays from CrimeStoppers of Puget Sound, Eastside Regional Communications Center and Washington State Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS).

Children can have their picture taken on a police motorcycle and view patrol cars from local agencies, and have their fingerprints recorded. Free children’s identification cards will be provided from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dispatchers will give instructions for children on calling 911 responsibly.

Participating agencies include the Bellevue and Redmond police departments, the State Patrol, Eastside Regional Communications Center, CrimeStoppers of Puget Sound and My ID Club.
