UPDATE: Double stabbing victims at Harborview with serious injuries

The suspect had been staying with the elderly victims for weeks before violently attacking them.

Bellevue Police and Firefighters responded to a double stabbing and arson around 5 p.m. this evening at a residence on the 16200 block of Southeast 31st Street.

A 40-year-old female suspect stabbed an elderly couple multiple times before attempting to set fire to the residence and fleeing on foot, police said in a press release.

The 83-year-old male victim and 76-year-old female victim were transported to Harborview Medical Center by Bellevue medics with serious injuries, according to a press release.

BPD posted on its Twitter page that they had the suspect in custody and detectives were en route. Police added in a press release that there is no ongoing threat to the community, as this appears to be an isolated incident, and the current motive is unknown.

Detectives learned that the suspect is unrelated to the victims and had been staying with them for the past few weeks.

The female victim was able to escape to a neighboring residence and called 911, police said in a press release. Police arrived within two minutes of the call and found the female victim bleeding in the street. After providing first aid, arriving officers located the suspect and detained her.

This is a developing story and the Reporter will update it as more information becomes available.
