Stats nearly even, but Bellevue football wins big over Mount Si

The statistics don’t always tell the tale. Consider Bellevue and Mount Si. The numbers show what looks to be two evenly matched teams. Bellevue totaled 270 yards Friday night against Mount Si’s 263. Both were matched in passing and running. But the bottom line holds the clue. The Wolverines continued their winning ways, knocking off Mount Si 20-7.

But the bottom line holds the clue. The Wolverines continued their winning ways, knocking off Mount Si 20-7.

As with many of Bellevue’s victories, Peter Nguyen put them on the scoreboard first. The speedy back collected a first-quarter touchdown on a one-yard run and came back in the second quarter to score on a 23-yard run. Freddie Levine added a third touchdown for Bellevue in the third quarter, but the point-after kick was blocked.

Mount Si’s only score came on a one-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

The Wolverines travel to Mercer Island on Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
