Interlake Saints running back De’Jhion Parrish doesn’t let his lack of size affect him on the football field.

Parrish, who stands 5 feet, 5 inches and weighs a 167 pounds, is a vital cog in Interlake’s offensive arsenal as the featured running back. Parrish’s breakout game came in the third week of the season against the Liberty Patriots. Parrish had 23 carries for 295 yards and three rushing touchdowns in a 44-32 loss in the third week of the season. Parrish was happy with his stats, but would had rather gotten the win.

“I just try to do my best and do whatever I can to help the team get the win. I don’t care if I get 10 carries and 70 yards. All that matters is that we get the ‘W’. That is what is most important to me,” Parrish said.

The Saints have built a respectable 2-3 overall record through five games this season. In 2013, the Saints won just one game.

“We have had a perfect start and are playing a lot better than last year. Now we feel like we can actually make the playoffs,” Parrish said. “Last year there really wasn’t much hope.”

Parrish said he’s played football since he suited up for the Seattle based Rainier Eagles youth football program in the third grade.

Recently the Bellevue Reporter had an opportunity to ask Parrish a few questions about his life away from the football field.

Bellevue Reporter: What is your favorite movie of all time?

De’Jhion Parrish: I watch a lot of football movies and I will have to go with “Any Given Sunday” as my favorite. It is just comical and funny. I like it a lot.

BR: What is your biggest pet peeve?

DP: When I’m walking around the lunchroom and I see people leave garbage on the tables when the garbage can is right next to the table. That really irritates me.

DP: It would have to be Chipotle Grill. The burritos are huge.

BR: What is something unique about you that nobody would know?

DP: I like to write poetry. I have been doing that since I was seven years old.

BR: Where do you see yourself in five years?

BR: Where is your dream vacation spot?

DP: Brazil. I would love it there.

BR: Who is your pick to win the Super Bowl in February of 2015?
