The Pro Sports Club Women’s 4.0 team from Bellevue will compete in the 2009 USTA League Senior National Championships, held Oct. 16-18 at Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, Calif.

The team earned the right to compete for the national championship by defeating Mountain Park Racquet Club of Lake Oswego, Ore., 3-0 in the final of the 2009 USTA League Pacific Northwest Section Championships in June.

The squad is captained by E. Marie Willsey and includes Corliss Liekkio, Joan Thompson, Suzanne Rittenhouse, Sue Sturgell, Heather O’Connor, Marilou Rolfe, Ellen Kariya, Laurie Federman, Marsha Ishii and Mary Wiegenstein.

The Senior National Championship will feature the best senior tennis teams from throughout the country and all 17 sections of the USTA will be represented. The tournament will use a flighted round robin format in which matches will be decided by a team winning the best of two tiebreak sets with a match tiebreak if required.
