Prep report: Bellevue volleyball beats Sammamish

Sammamish outlasted Bellevue in game one 27-25, but the Wolverines rolled to three-straight winning games to beat the Totems 3-1 at Bellevue High School on Tuesday night.

The Wolverines (4-7, 4-5 KingCo 3A/2A), clad in pink jerseys in tribute of breast cancer awareness month, rolled to a 25-23 victory in game two and took the final two games 25-20 and 25-22.

Bellevue’s Laura Goesling had 11 kills and 14 digs and Madison Whitney had six kills and five aces for the Wolverines.

Karina Vegarra led all scorers in assists (24) and digs (20) for Bellevue. She also had three aces.

Summer Sturtevant had eight kills and three aces to lead the Totems (0-12, 0-10).

Mount Si 3, Interlake 1

Robyn Schirmer had six kills, 34 assists and 15 digs to help the Wildcats (11-1, 10-0) to a 25-6, 27-29, 25-14, 25-12 victory over Interlake in Snoqualmie. Kori Maitlen had nine kills for the Saints (6-6, 4-5).

Bothell 3, Newport 2

The Cougars outlasted Newport in a back-and-forth contest Wednesday night in Bothell, defeating Newport 27-25, 19-25, 26-24, 24-26, 15-9 in a hotly contested match.

Zoe Lida had a game-high 33 digs for the Cougars (11-2, 9-1 KingCo 4A) and Anna Buck had 32 assists and 16 digs.

Senna Parsa had 12 kills and five blocks to lead Newport (9-3, 6-3).

Overlake 3, Bellevue Christian 1

Alex Weaver had 16 assists and three aces to lead Overlake (10-4, 7-3 Emerald City League) to a 25-15, 25-19, 18-25, 25-23 victory over Bellevue Christian in Redmond.

Courtney Stablings led the Vikings (10-3, 8-3) with 10 kills and three blocks.

Cedar Park Christian 3, Forest Ridge 0

Kayla Zacharias had 24 assists and Candice Whipple had 13 digs to lead Cedar Park Christian (8-2, 8-2) to a 25-15, 25-18, 25-13 win over Forest Ridge (3-10, 3-7).

Rachel Herron scored in the 66th minute to give Redmond (6-4-2, 4-3-2 KingCo 4A) a 1-0 lead, but Jami Shimada knocked in an unassisted goal just four minutes later to help Newport (3-5-6, 2-4-3) salvage a 1-1 draw with the Mustangs.

Mercer Island 3, Bellevue 1

Erin Bourguignon scored two-straight goals to snap a 1-1 tie and help Mercer Island (11-2-1, 9-1 KingCo 3A/2A) beat Bellevue 3-1 on the Island.

Jessica Neiman scored for the Wolverines (5-7-1, 2-6-1). Mary Hill scored Mercer Island’s first goal of the game.

Sammamish 1, Interlake 0

Kelsey Davies scored the only goal of the game and Kyra Lindstrom picked up the shutout as Sammamish (7-3-3, 6-2-2) blanked the Saints (4-9, 1-8) 1-0.

Bellevue Christian 0, Overlake 0

Lauren Mortier had a shutout for Bellevue Christian (4-7-2, 3-6-2 Emerald City League) and Ceci Votta had the same for Overlake (12-1-1, 10-1-1) as the teams played to a scoreless tie in Redmond.

University Prep 4, Forest Ridge 1

Clare Midgley scored two-straight goals as University Prep (4-9, 3-9) beat the Ravens 4-1. Anna Nelson scored the only goal for Forest Ridge (2-11, 0-11).
