Newport 17, Sammamish 5

Blake Gibbs went 3 for 3 with a home run and a triple, knocking in four RBIs and helping Newport race past Sammamish 17-5. Colin Hering also went 3 for 3 and picked up four RBIs for Newport (12-7, 10-5 KingCo 3A), who scored 10 runs in the third inning. Brandon Andreini picked up the win for the Knights. Will Minice took the loss for Sammamish (4-13, 4-12). Bobby Brown homered for the Totems.

Mount Si 5, Interlake 3

The Saints ended their season with a 5-3 loss at home against Mount Si. Taylor Campbell hit a solo home run to help the Wildcats (8-8, 7-8) pick up the win. Interlake (3-16, 1-15) lost its last thirteen games in a row.

Bellevue 7, Mount Si 2

Bellevue clinched a playoff spot with a 7-2 victory over Mount Si. Jeff Melby hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning to help Colton Bielaski pick up the win for the Wolverines (10-8, 9-6). Nick Moyer went 4 for 4 with a double and a triple. The Wolverines had been rocked recently by the passing of Chase Anderson, a UW freshman who was killed in a skateboarding accident last Friday morning. Chase Anderson’s brother junior Taylor Anderson is Bellevue’s starting center fielder. The Wolverines have won seven of its last eight games.

Bellevue Christian 16,

University Prep 9

Bellevue Christian broke a 10-9 game wide open by scoring six runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat University Prep 16-9 at Dahl Field. Andy Chung knocked in two runs for the Vikings (10-4, 8-3 Emerald City League).

Bellevue 1, Skyline 0

Jake Collier relieved starter Hardy Mowe in the sixth inning to complete a seven-hit shutout as Bellevue beat the fifth-ranked Spartans 1-0. Collier went 2 for 3 for Bellevue and picked up the game’s only RBI. Blake Fulghum was the losing pitcher.

Eastside Catholic 5,

Bishop Blanchet 0

Oregon State recruit Matt Boyd went 3 for 3 and also pitched seven shutout innings for the Crusaders, who handed Bishop Blanchet its first loss of the season. Boyd struck out 11 Blanchet batters in the win to improve his record to 7-0.

Bellevue Christian 14,

Overlake 1

Andy Chung hit a pair of two-run homeruns and James King struck out six as Bellevue Christian pounded Overlake 14-1. Kyle Taylor added a three-run homerun in the fifth inning for the Vikings.
