Kolbi Tabakci, a senior at Newport, won the Washington State High School powerlifting title in the 242-pound weight class on May 2 at Montesano High School in Montesano.

Tabakci set a new state record of 630-pounds in the squat to go along with his 310-pound bench press and 460-pound deadlift. Tabakci totaled 1,400 pounds in all three lifts.
