Newport girls into semi-finals, boys fall to Bothell | Prep basketball news

The Knights are one win from the regional playoffs on the girls side after a win over Eastlake in the 4A KingCo tournament.

Girls basketball

Newport dropped second-seeded Eastlake 46-37 to move into the semi-finals of the 4A KingCo girls basketball tournament on Saturday at Juanita High School.

The Knights will meet Skyline, which took care of Bothell in another opening round game, at 6:30 p.m with a spot in the tournament title game and the automatic regional playoff berth that comes with on the line.

The Lady Wolves will face the Cougars on Saturday in a 3 p.m. start in a loser-out game.

Issaquah won its opening round game 40-37 over Woodinville to move into Saturday’s semi-finals. The Eagles will take on Inglemoor in the late game at Juanita. The Vikes dropped Ballard 51-40 in the first round.

Boys basketball

Issaquah took care of Eastlake 48-40 in the first round of the 4A KingCo boys basketball tournament.

Coach Jason Griffith’s Eagles will get another shot at Bothell, which beat Newport 91-86 in another first round game. The winner will move into next weekend’s title game and also earn one of the two automatic berths to the regional playoffs. The Cougars and Eagles will play the late game at Juanita on Friday.

Eastlake and Newport will play at 4:45 p.m. on Friday at Juanita in a loser-out game.
