Newport puts up points against Lake Stevens

The Newport Knights recorded a 43-40 victory over the Lake Stevens Vikings in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs on Nov. 15 in Lake Stevens. Newport (9-2) will host the Federal Way Eagles at 7 p.m. on Nov. 22 in the Class 4A quarterfinals in Bellevue.

Bellevue remains undefeated

Perfection continued for the Bellevue Wolverines on the soccer field against the Arlington Eagles. Bellevue captured a 1-0 win against Arlington in the Class 4A quarterfinals on Nov. 15 in Bellevue. The Wolverines (18-0) will face the Edmonds Woodway Warriors at 2 p.m. on Nov. 21 in the Class 3A semifinals at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup.

VOLLEYBALL

Vikings captures fourth place at Class 1A state tourney

The Bellevue Christian Vikings went 2-2 at the Class 1A state volleyball tournament at the Yakima SunDome. The Vikings defeated La Center and Naches Valley in their first two games but lost to Lynden Christian and Cedar Park Christian in their final two matches. Cedar Park Christian defeated Bellevue Christian 3-0 in the third/fourth place game on Nov. 15.

Wolverines lose first two games at the Class 3A state tournament

The Bellevue Wolverines went 0-2 at the state tournament, suffering losses to the Lakeside Lions and the North Thurston Rams on Nov. 14 at St. Martin’s University in Lacey. Newport falls in first two contests at Class 4A state tournament The Newport Knights went 0-2 at the state tournament, suffering losses against the Emerald Ridge Jaguars and the Gig Harbor Tides. Emerald Ridge captured second place at the tourney.
