Saints capture first place at KingCo tournament

The Interlake Saints wrestling team compiled 180 team points, earning first place as a team at the Class 3A KingCo tournament on Feb. 6. Mercer Island finished in second place with 174 team points.

Interlake grapplers capturing first place in their weight classes consisted of Beau Wiebe (106), Abduvoris Anarov (113), Aidan Campana (120), Kenny Hoang (126) and Lucas Varela (145).

Two Bellevue grapplers capture KingCo titles

Bellevue Wolverines wrestlers Nathan Smith (152) and Zach England (195) nabbed first place finishes at the Class 3A KingCo tourney on Feb. 6.

Interlake defeats rival in regular season finale

The Interlake Saints defeated the Sammamish Totems 50-35 on Feb. 5 in Bellevue in a matchup between rivals. Interlake’s Amanda Melhoff scored a team-high 11 points in the victory. The Saints finished the 2015-16 season with an overall record of 11-9. Interlake head coach Scott Marcum said it was the second time in the past 16 years the Saints have finished a season with a winning record.

Newport wins final game

In the final game of the regular season the Newport Knights reigned victorious courtesy of a 54-43 win against the Mount Si Wildcats on Feb. 5. The Knights finished the 2015-16 season with an overall record of 6-14.
