Heron Athletic club is conducting tryouts

The Heron Athletic Club, a soccer club serving the Eastside region, is hosting tryouts for its various teams in May. The U-11 and U-12 tryouts for the boys and girls teams will take place on May 9 and May 10 at International School in Bellevue. The U-13 and U-14 tryouts for both the boys and girls teams will take place on May 16 at Newport Hills Park and on May 17 at International School. BASEBALL

Knights defeat Mustangs in nail-biter

The Newport Knights improved their overall record to 16-2 with a 2-1 win against the Redmond Mustangs on May 1. Newport senior ace pitcher Ryan Kingma improved his overall record to 6-0 on the season. Kingma allowed just four hits and one earned run in eight innings of work against Redmond. He fanned nine Mustangs hitters as well.

Lake Washington edges Interlake

The Lake Washington Kangaroos defeated the Interlake Saints 6-2 on May 1 in Kirkland. It was Lake Washington’s senior night. Interlake dropped its overall record to 9-10 with the loss.

SOFTBALL

Patriots defeat Saints in close contest

The Liberty Patriots defeated the Interlake Saints 2-0 on May 1 in Issaquah. Interlake (5-12) will face the Lake Washington Kangaroos at 4:30 p.m. on May 11 in Kirkland.

Falcons shutout Knights

The Woodinville Falcons cruised to a 8-0 win against the Newport Knights on May 1 in Factoria. Newport (4-14) will host Ballard at 4 p.m. on May 8 in Factoria.
