Girls basketball: Wolverines rock Rebels

Four Wolverines scored in double figures as Bellevue blew past Juanita 50-34.

Stephanie Frederick had 12 points and Alyssa Gilbert, Emilie Gilbert and Catelyn Webber all scored 10 points as Bellevue (12-5, 7-2 KingCo 3A/2A) stayed in pace with Mercer Island and Liberty in the race for the league title.

Olivia Marshall led the Rebels (5-11, 3-5) with 12 points.

Mercer Island 88, Interlake 73

Sarah Anderegg had a game-high 29 points but a balanced Islanders attack allowed Mercer Island to edge out the Saints 88-73 in a shootout on the island.

Hailey Gullstad led Mercer Island (11-4, 6-1) with 21 points, while Janelle Chow added 18 in the win.

Litia Ngauamo added 15 points for Interlake (11-6, 2-6).

Liberty 73, Sammamish 17

The Totems could only manage seven second-half points as Liberty piled it on in a lopsided conference win in Bellevue.

Corinna Van Hurston led all scorers with 14 points for the Patriots (14-3, 7-2).

Sammamish dropped to 0-16 and 0-9 in league play.

Newport 59, Redmond 55

Betsy Kingma scored 22 points and Newport outscored Redmond 17-10 in the fourth quarter in a big KingCo 4A win for the Knights.

The win put Newport’s conference record at 8-4. The Knights trail only Issaquah (9-2) and Eastlake (9-3) in the Crest division of the KingCo 4A conference.

Redmond dropped to 6-6 in league play with the loss.

Bellevue Christian 55, Cedar Park Christian 30

Michelle Teng (16 points) and Maren Haines (12 points) helped the Vikings (12-2, 9-0 Emerald City League) remain perfect in league play.
