Over 40 former players, including former Major League Baseball players Scott Anderson and Mike Campbell, gathered last Friday to celebrate the career of former Newport baseball coach Bob Albo.

Current Newport athletic director Gill James presented Albo with a Newport Booster Athletic Association professional service award after the game. Albo was also presented with a framed No. 11 Newport jersey by the Newport baseball alumni, along with a notebook containing an article about Albo among over remembrances.

The notebook also contained a formal request from the baseball alumni that the field at Newport be named “Bob Albo Field”.

The night concluded with a BBQ dinner at the Newport Hills Pool.
