In the 3A bracket, Bellevue senior Jimmy Trull pinned Enumclaw senior Chris Williams in the third round of a tight match before earning a 2-1 decision in overtime to Williams’ teammate Colton Malek.

Region III champion Stone Hart will wrestle O’Dea senior David Dempsey in the other semi-final on Sat. morning.

Tyler Wallace of Yelm next stands in the way of Trull’s road to the finals after he earned a pair of pins to advance.

Newport 106 pound wrestler Julie Norvell pinned both of her first day opponents and will be back tomorrow for the semi-finals of the girls bracket at Mat Classic XXIV.

Norvell pinned junior Taryn Lommasson of Camas in just over a minute in the first round before doing the same to Othello’s Tori Zabrano in only fifty four seconds.

Todd Beamer freshman Arian Carpio awaits in tomorrow’s 10:10 scheduled semi-final. Carpio’s twin brother Ares is also in tomorrow’s semi-final round in the 4A bracket at 126 pounds.

Interlake’s Jake Wilson and Bellevue Christian’s Tyler Erme both won first round matches as well.

Wilson, who vomited after that match and said he has been suffering from the flu all week, lost his second round match to Shaypher Hendricks of Blaine while Erme was downed in overtime 6-4 by Stevenson senior Karl Bell.

Both will be back tomorrow in the consolation bracket with the chance to finish as high as third in the tournament.
