Bellevue’s Stanchi selected to National Team camp

Marco Stanchi, a member of Bellevue High School’s water polo and swim and dive teams, is headed to the USA Water Polo National Team camp after his performance at the regional Olympic Development Program championships.

Stanchi and around 50 others in 10th grade and under will head to the camp, which is the pipeline for spots on the US National Team, in May to compete for a place on the Junior National (18U), Youth National (16U) and Cadet National (14U) teams.

Only one other prep player from Rain City Water Polo was selected, Roosevelt’s Conrad Gordon.

Sammamish 272 Bellevue 248 @ Bellevue Municipal

Bellevue took the team scoring behind a pair of sub-50 rounds at Bellevue Municipal Golf Course.

Sammamish was led by the 49 of Rachel Monkman and a 50 from Sharon Ma.

Interlake 257 Liberty 273

Sophomore Aleana Groenhout was the medalist for the Saints with a 44 at Tam O’Shanter in Bellevue.

Danielle Niemann carded a 45 and Delany Douglas shot 48 for Interlake in the win.

Youth spring break camp coming to Newport Hills

Steve Goucher, former professional baseball player at scout for the Atlanta Braves, is hosting a spring break baseball clinic for children ages 8-13 at Newport Hills Park on April 11 and 12.

Fee is $59 for residents and $71 for nonresidents and the camp is for two hours each day, beginning at 11 a.m.
