Bellevue takes Division I lacrosse title for second straight year | Prep sports news

The Wolverines dominated the state title match against Mercer Island to pick up another crown.

Bellevue led 7-1 at the half en route to a 14-11 win over Mercer Island on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Seattle in the boys Division I lacrosse state championship game.

The Wolverines, which finished the season unbeaten against in-state foes at 17-0-0, captured a second straight state championship and the third in four years behind four goals from both Cole Johnson and Hank Bethke.

Goalkeeper Bradley Medeiros had 18 saves in net for Bellevue and along with the defense kept the Islanders to only five goals through three periods.

Hunter Lien finished with three goals for Bellevue in the win, and Dakota Jones and Eric Haehl also scored in the win.

Chase York scored three goals to lead the Islanders.
