The Wolverines won their second straight boys water polo title with a win over Curtis.

For the second time in program history and second season in a row, the Bellevue boys water polo team are state champions.

The Wolverines followed-up last year’s state title with another run through the state tournament that concluded with a 7-3 win over Curtis.

Bellevue took care of Lakes in the opening round before beating Enumclaw, Auburn-Mountainview and crosstown rival Newport in the semi-finals.

Three Wolverines earned first team all-state honors, as goalkeeper Reed Hendrickson was joined by Marco Stanchi and George French. Hendrickson also earned Defensive MVP honors after allowing only 25 goals in four tournament games and more than five only in the 11-10 win over the Knights. Newport’s Lee Griffin was also a first team selection and earned offensive MVP honors. His coach, Farrah Kunkel, was named coach of the year.
