Bellevue College baseball earns more honors

Bellevue College baseball, the 2009 NWAACC champions, recently picked up more honors after their championship season.

Bulldogs coach Mark Yoshino was named the American Baseball Coaches Association National Coach of the Year for the Pacific Association, which consists of all the junior colleges in Wash., Ore., and Calif.

Infielder Brian Barnes and first baseman Lucas Shaw of Bellevue, both sophomores, earned third-team All-American honors from the ABCA-PAD.

Brett Wallach, of Orange Coast College, was named the National Player of the Year. Wallach is the son of 17-year major leaguer Tim Wallach and was recently drafted in the third round of the MLB draft.
