Bellevue boys basketball beats Todd Beamer H.S.| Basketball Notebook

A quick start led to another Bellevue victory.

The Wolverines, ranked No. 6 in 3A, started the game off with a 12-2 run and held on to beat 4A No. 8 Todd Beamer 66-51 Saturday in the Les Schwab Hoop Challenge at Bellevue High School.

Bellevue (4-0) was led by senior Aaron Bright, who scored 20 points in the win. The Wolverines limited Beamer (3-3) standout Kevin Davis to 17 points. Only two of his points came in the first half.

Bellevue’s Nate Sikma had 15 points and five rebounds. John Ahrens added 10 points for Bellevue.

Boys

Sammamish 73, Granite Falls 37

Daniel Wruble scored 14 points, Anthony Myers had 12 and George Valle added 10 as Sammamish beat Granite Falls 73-37.

Sammamish (4-1) outscored Granite Falls 26-2 in the third quarter. Ten different Totems scored points in the win.

Cascade Christian 48, Bellevue Christian 42

Cascade Christian built a 16-4 lead early and held off the Vikings late to beat Bellevue Christian 48-42 in the Les Schwab Hoop Challenge at Bellevue College.

Nick Schubert had 16 points to lead the Vikings (3-2).

Girls

Newport 50, Holy Names 38

Betsy Kingma scored 20 points as Newport stayed perfect on the season with a 50-38 win over Holy Names.

Newport improved to 5-0 on the season with the victory. Caitlin Bennett added nine points for the Knights, and Randi Boseman and Chanel Cambronero each scored eight points apiece for Newport.

Claire Conricode had 11 points for Holy Names (4-1).

Boys

Redmond 77, Newport 63

The Mustangs jumped on Newport quickly by building a 19-8 first quarter lead and held on to defeat the Knights 77-63 in Bellevue.

Josh Bircher scored a game-high 18 points for Redmond (2-1, 2-0 KingCo 4A) and Conner Floan had 17.

Newport (0-4, 0-2) was led by Isaac Dotson, who scored 21 points, and Victor King, who had 19.

Girls

Bellevue 55, Liberty 48

Catelyn Webber scored 21 points and Bellevue turned a six point first quarter deficit into a seven point lead, beating Liberty 55-48.

The Wolverines (3-2, 2-0 KingCo 3A) outscored the Patriots 18-5 in the second quarter after trailing by six at the end of the first.

Alyssa Gilbert added 13 points for Bellevue. Danni Sjolander led Liberty (1-3, 1-1) with 13 points.

Sultan 56, Interlake 49

Sultan had three players score in double figures as they knocked off Interlake at home 56-49.

Bianca O’Hara had 19 points for Sultan, who also received 16 points from Courtney Batts and 12 points from Brandi Johnson.

Sarah Anderegg led all scorers with 25 points for Interlake (3-2).

Northwest School 27, Forest Ridge 21

Micahela Fallon scored 16 points to lead Northwest School over Forest Ridge 27-21.

Amanda Klug led the Ravens (0-2, 0-4 Emerald City League) with eight points.

Cedarcrest 68, Interlake 53

Cedarcrest jumped out to a 15-5 lead in the first quarter and held on to defeat the Saints 68-53 in Duvall.

Jeffery Kimmel led Interlake (3-2) with 14 points. Ricky Aaron had 13 for the Saints.

Girls

Granite Falls 62, Sammamish 21

Peyton Spencer scored 20 points and Ericka Smith had 12 as Granite Falls beat Sammamish 62-21.

Kendall Dougherty led Sammamish (1-4) with seven points.
